What is a Bill of Lading?
A Bill of Lading or B/L BOL. Is a legal document that is used to confirm shipment of goods & gives title to the shipment for the specified party. Zebra will issue this to the shipper once the vessel has sailed.
When do I get the Bill of Lading?
The Bill of Lading is produced after departure of the cargo. if the shipper (owner of the goods) chooses to receive the original bill of lading, it will be sent to them before the goods arrive at the port of discharge. If the shipper chooses not to receive the original bill of lading, a telex release can be effected at the port of destination. It is not possible to have both a telex release and original bill of lading on the same cargo.
What is a Telex release?
A telex release is an electronic copy of the bill of lading. Typically easier to use as it can be sent via email.
